JT COMMUNICATIONS OCALA, FLA. SERVICE BULLETIN #PLFM100-1A PURPOSE OF BULLETIN: To remedy possible loss of lock at various frequencies/output levels when using the Motorola MC12016 IC. THIS MODIFICATION IS FOR PLFM-100 MODULES THAT UTILIZE THE MOTOROLA MC12016. LOCATE THE 8-PIN U2. IF IT IS A MC12016, THEN FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. IF IT IS NOT, DISREGARD THIS SERVICE BULLETIN: 1) Remove PLFM-100 from operation. 2) Locate pin 5 & pin 8 of the MC12016. Attach the 2.2k resistor(supplied in kit) between these points. Use rosin core solder, and 40 watt MAXIMUM iron. 3) Locate far side of 1K resistor (R2) in series with pin 6 of the MC12016 IC. Attach 10pf cap (supplied) between the far side of R2(the land located between the ground plane split) and the ground of the 100uf cap (C5). 4) Clean rosin from PC board with Isopropyl or Denatured Alcohol. Check assembly work for shorts, etc. 5) Reinstall PLFM-100 back into operation.
