PLFM-100 APPLICATION NOTES


APPLICATION NOTE M6095
INSTALLING THE PLFM-100 IN THE GATES RADIO COMPANY M-6095 EXCITER

NOTE: most of the 6095 exciter tube compliment will be removed. 

      1)      Remove tubes XV107 thru XV114 (multiplier stages).
      2)      Remove Xtal oven XHR101.
      3)      Remove tubes XV101 thru XV106, XV116 and XV117 (Xtal oven divider, 
              phase modulator, audio amplifier).
      4)      Remove B+ resistor R163 (10k 2W). 
      5)      Remove audio transformer T102, and replace with a 1:1 600 ohm
              good quality audio transformer. Remove .027uF pre-emphasis cap-
              acitors C133 and C134. These capacitors
              are located across audio input pad. This pad can be eliminated if necessary.
      6)      Connect secondary of audio transformer to pre-emphasis input
              (white wire) of PLFM-100. Connect low side of transformer to PLFM-100 audio ground.
      6A)     For composite input, connect composite source directly to green wire of PLFM-100. Both composite and pre-emphasis inputs can be used simultaneously.
       7)     Connect output of PLFM100 across L116. Connect the shield to the C163 side of L116. (it may be necessary                to connect this point directly to ground).
       8)    Add regulated 12v to PLFM-100 input. There should be sufficient drive into XV115 for full 10W output.
       9)    Be sure to adequately shield PLFM-100 in a metal enclosure. The use of feed-thru bypass capacitors (100-1000pF) in conjunction with ferrite beads is highly recommended.
